i-m-bored-at-work: foreverliberal: Santorum, if elected, has promised to declare a “war on porn”.  Okay sorry, anyway – he said that he will appoint an Attorney General just to regulate the distribution of porn, and has claimed that “the Obama Administration favors pornographers over children” and that “Obama has refused to enforce obscenity laws”. I’m pretty sure this is another case of “don’t reelect Obama at all costs”, which naturally, involves a lot of lies. I still can’t get over the ridiculousness of the situation. An Attorney General just for porn, really? Santorum is so obsessed with sex and destroying sexual freedom when he could be focusing on REAL problems. I’ve said this a million times on this blog, but there are people starving in the United States, millions of people, and politicians like Santorum care more about this. Okay, first off Santorum, when it comes to porn, maybe kids wouldn’t be so apt to look to porn for answers if we would stop teaching abstinence only education, and shaming sex into a “sinful, dirty act” instead of something natural and beautiful so that people would actually talk about sex with their children. I know, the horror!  Santorum said that porn is bad for marriage and relationships, and that it makes misogyny and violence against women worse.  You know what contributes to violence against women? Rape culture, and victim blaming. Also, apparently since 1991, when porn became more available over the Internet, violence against women (specifically rape) dropped by 86%. You know what contributes to misogyny? Treating women like their only role in life is to pop out babies, and be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. You know what is bad for marriage and relationships? A sex life that is run by God, where everything is “sinful”, and also, if porn can ruin your marriage, it probably wasn’t very strong to begin with. I’m not going to act like I’m an expert on the effects of porn. And yes, a lot of porn is violent and awful. But taking away someone’s sexual freedom because it is against your “personal moral views” has and will never work. Back off sexual freedom Rick Santorum. Focus on something that is actually important.  Rick Santorum, it’s more like Dick Santorum, as in what he takes up the ass and is so ashmaed he tries to repress it.
